What the school day looks like
School runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your child starts the day with a free breakfast. The academic program covers reading, math, science, and social studies, all built on state standards. Spanish runs every day alongside core instruction. This isn't a once-a-week class taught by a rotating substitute. It's embedded. Your child reads in two languages, thinks in two languages, and grows up with the confidence that comes from moving between both.Culture isn't a unit. It's the environment.
Latino Heritage Month and the Latino Heritage Parade bring the culture alive each fall. Art classes and cultural activities run throughout the year. The EFNEP Nutrition Education Celebration connects food, health, and heritage. The Books and Badges program puts books in students' hands through a partnership with the Girl Scouts. The school doesn't teach culture in a textbook. It lives inside the walls.Community partners who walk through the building
This school's partner list isn't decorative. Columbus Public Health and Nationwide Children's Hospital (Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition) support student wellness. Smile Programs brings mobile dentists into the building. The Ohio Optometric Association runs vision screenings. OSU Extension (College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences) connects students to real-world science. The Central Ohio Worker Center and Justice for Migrant Women support families navigating systems that weren't designed for them. Coats4Childrens keeps students warm. Kroger and Raising Cane's show up for school events. These partners serve West Columbus because they know West Columbus. What it costs: nothing.
